Conflict--Every book has some sort of conflict that pulls the reader in and keeps the reader reading. Conflict can be person vs. person, person vs. nature, person vs. self, person vs. society, or person vs. the supernatural. Identify the primary conflict in your novel. Who or what is involved with the main conflict? What is the conflict? How does your character handle himself/herself when faced with this conflict? How does this conflict add to the story line of your novel? How is the conflict resolved and what is the outcome?
The main conflict in my book is about the psychological and emotional struggle between Lowen, the main character, and Verity who is a famous author who is no longer able to normally function after an accident, and what has happened in her life. After Lowen takes on Verity's series to finish it out, she discovers Verity's unpublished autobiography that she had written before her accident. This autobiography shares and reveals secrets about her life, and the relationship she had with her husband Jeremy. As Lowen continues to read this autobiography she faces internal conflicts about her own feelings, and external conflicts about Verity and her manipulative nature and what she knows that nobody else does. This tension that sparks from the autobiography makes it hard for Lowen to really focus on what she is there to do. The conflict has not yet been resolved, since I am not that far yet.
ReplyDeleteI have read this book! I relate it to my book now because the conflict takes the entire book to get resolved.
DeleteI have also read this book. The author did a great job of writing it because of all the detail she put into it. The conflict between them was a big part of the book and made it more interesting.
DeleteSuch a good book! This conflict is a huge part of the book that slowly unfolds to the end.
DeleteIn my book Be Not Far From Me, the main character, Ashly's conflict, is against nature as she is stuck in the woods with no resources, and all of her friends are nowhere to be seen. She also has injuries that she doesn't have the tools to tend to, so they are starting to get infected. This, mixed with starvation starting to kick in, is making moving through the forest almost impossible for Ashly since Ashly has grown up exploring the woods, she knows a couple tricks that will help her get to safety, but she is slowly running out of ideas.
ReplyDeleteKinda sounds like my book but in my there stuck on a boat with injuries trying to survive.
DeleteIt almost relates to my book of Elie and her father getting separated from her mom, just the two surviving independently. The father has many injuries and dies which ties along with your book a little bit.
Deletethis is like my book night becouse my carector is stuck in a camp with no way out and is worked close to death, fed barly anything and gets beaten
DeleteIn my book the main character Lynn is struggling to find food and water at some points of the book.
DeleteIn my book Dead In The Water there is a lot of conflict when they are sailing in high winds almost sinking there boat and when there is another boat that is poaching rare fish and Olivia one of the the kids that are training to be a sailing finds out there poaching and wants to stop them so she takes her friend Simon with her and they get caught by the poachers and are help hostage all this conflict makes the book more interesting to read and they need to find a way to escape.
ReplyDeleteAlmost relates to my book by the Nazis taking innocent people and they are stuck there but "try to find a way out" but cant really because they are fenced in.
Deletein wildlife there is a conflict between Erik the main Caracter and his grandpa. Erik finds a dog that has porcupine quills all over him. he saves the dog and wants to keep it but his grandpa said he couldn't. Erik solves this problem by grabbing a shotgun and running away with the dog.
ReplyDeleteSounds pretty interesting what does his grandpa do after he runs off?
Deletewhat was his reasoning for running away? why did his grandpa not want to keep the dog?
DeleteThat's interesting. It makes me wonder what will happen next, whether he will come back to his grandpa or go on his own.
DeleteThe big conflict in my book is David's mother beating him and starving him. The whole family in this book was involved because the brothers and the father of David all knew what the mother was doing to David and they did not do anything to help him. David handles himself pretty well throughout the book. When he's getting beat he just has to take it because if he fights back then Mother would beat him more then he is already getting beat. This all adds to the story line because without mother beating David the book wouldn't be a book. It only stops when David's school calls cps and removed David from the home.
ReplyDeleteI read the same book and I agree, they were a happy family till David was excluded which caused strain on his parents relationship, I believe his dad wanted to help but he was scared of the mom just like David.
DeleteThis book sounds very interesting to read and also very sad. Why did David's mother beat and starve him? Did he seek help at school, or did they notice something and just call cps?
DeleteI read this book awhile ago and it was a very good eye opener. Reading about the conflict throughout the book was very hard to imagine and was very hard to read. It was so sad that David was the only one getting treated the way he was and couldn't get help because of how scared he was.
Deletethats alot of content for conflict, looks like a good book
DeleteIn my book night similar things happen, Elie and his father are also starved and beaten by germen solders.
Deletethe big conflict in my book is that Winnie gets taken by this family that can live for ever they took her because she found the water that makes them live for ever and they didn't want her to tell anyone so they kidnapped her till they can figure out what to do with her and make sure she dint tell anyone about the water
ReplyDeleteThis book sounds interesting from what I see you wrote. What's so special about this water? How does it make you live forever? Why don't they want people knowing about the water?
Deletethat relates to my book because this family let a cult leader into their home to help protect her from the outside world.
Deletethis is like my book night becouse they get taken from there home and sent to a camp and seperated and there also mal nutrishiond and get barley anything to eat.
Deletesounds like an interesting book, why did the family chose to take her out of anyone else, was there something special about this person? or did they use her as a test subject for this water?
DeleteThis seems real interesting, but do you know what makes the water so special? How can it makes someone life forever and why is the women not wanting to tell anyone else about this water if it can make you so healthy.
DeleteReading the book night, the main conflict is the physical and psychological struggle for survival against the Nazis. some of the problems they deal with are starvation, disease and brutal treatment in the camp. They also struggle with dehumanization, when they strip prisoners of there dignity and identity. These conflicts show throughout the whole book and continue to the end when Elie gets put in the hospital. The characters are all aware of the conflicts and is now a daily task of taking the dead out and keeping everything to yourself and not worrying about what comes next. The conflict gets resolved by the army coming into the camps and liberating the camp.
ReplyDeletemy book has alot of the same type of conflicts
Deletei read the same book and just looking it back it is crazy elie survived and crazy to think about all the stuff he overcame and dealt with
DeleteThe main conflict in my book is the struggle Elie has to go through. As he was punished by spying and doing other things he was whipped multiple times. Also the prisoners were forced to march by the SS officers and by police dogs. He handles the life he lives, and the things he goes through, not very well. They are all not only mentally exhausted, but also physically. Towards the end of the book, he is on the verge of life or death. He knows his father is very sick, but he only focuses on that. And then at the end of the book, his father ends up passing away.
ReplyDeletewhat book are you reading it sounds interesting why are the police officers so had on the prisoners
DeleteI can kind of relate my book to yours because one of my characters Verity punished her kids because she didn't like them, and tried choking them to death one, and before she even had them she tried everything in her power to have a miscarriage. Our books are very different, but the punishing and cruelty kind of sounds the same.
Deletei have a police officer in my book and a police dog named hero.
Deletewhat leads up to the passing of his father? was it from all of the torture hes been through? was it from the cold? was it of his old age and how weak hed become?
DeleteI read the book A Child Called "It" and the book was filled with conflict. David grew up with an extremely abusive mom. She treated him so badly that it caused conflict with David's younger siblings, his father, and other kids at school. All of the conflict stemmed from his cruel mother. If she wasn't so awful to him his siblings and dad wouldn't ignore his existence and the other kids wouldn't pick on him for being stinky and stealing their lunches. David did his best to overcome and outsmart his mother but she made it impossible. The conflict adds to the book because the book is based on the authors experiences. After the school, cps, and the cops got involved David was removed from his nightmare of a house so in the end David had finally won.
ReplyDeleteI can kind of relate your book to mine because one of characters Verity when she first had her children she despised them and one time even tried to choke one of her kids to death because it was crying to much. The difference in our books so far is that in yours the cops and people got involved, but in mine nobody knows the kind of mother Verity was and the terrible things she did to her kids. I am not done with my book yet, so people could find out but I just don't know yet.
DeleteI was also reading this book and I agree with you that she treated David really bad and it caused the major conflict with the whole family.
DeleteI would say the conflict in my book bight would be person vs. person since its Elie against other prisoners and germen soldiers. There are many different conflicts in my book like getting enough food, not getting killed, or making sure you look healthy. The way that Elie deals with his conflicts I would say is by keeping the thought of his dad in the back of his mind, he keeps fighting/ living mainly for his dad. It shows how close their father and son bond was and threw out the book you see there always there for each other. In the end the conflict only end by Elie getting liberated
ReplyDeleteI can connect that to my book because my main character fights for her siblings and that keeps her from ending it all.
Deletei have person vs person in my book how Ben and Jack can not get along all because Jack is a bully for no reason.
Deletein prisoner b-3087 the conflict is between him and his own mind weather or not he wants to keep fighting or die and if he wants to fight back against Germans the conflict doesn't really get resolved he has just kind of excepted that he will die and there's nothing he can do about it or change it other then to keep working to make Germans happy
ReplyDeletei read night and it was pretty similar because their both about the holocaust and they struggles they had to overcome to survive
DeleteI read that book and its very interesting. I like how it talks about his thought throughout days and what he is really thinking throughout his life.
Deletein the book night it was about the same because it was also about someone in the camp
DeleteI'm reading night and towards the end Elie is kind of fighting against his self as well since his dad died and he was the main reason Elie kept living.
Deletethe conflict in my book is similar for my character is stuck in the woods by herself and is battling her negative thoughts.
Deletei am reading night by elie wiesel and the main conflict was the holocaust and the struggles of being in the concentration camps and labor camps. the main character elie has to try to survive the rough conditions and the brutal stuff that the germans put the jews through. elie held himself pretty well, him and his father were in it together and that's a big thing that kept both them going. the conflict was resolved by the war ending
ReplyDeletei read night to and thought elie was pretty good at solving his conflicts
DeleteI'm reading the book The Cabin. There are many times that conflict occurs throughout the book. The conflict in the book is between everyone in the town. The friends are all going against each other trying to figure out who committed the murder. All of the friends said that they would be on each others team but when it came down to it the all decided to fight with each other and blame everyone else for the murder. It has caused some of the friendships to drift or completely fall apart.
ReplyDeleteThis book sounds scary! I wonder if one of them would actually murder one of their friends or who might have done such a horrible thing.
DeleteIn my book Hero there is a little bit of conflict like how the dog got stolen from ben and he can't find them and how Ben and Noah are in a fight over his mom birth day party that be forgot all about and also how Ben and Jack are not getting along like how be got hit in the shoder by Jack fast ball or even how be thinks jack stall his dogs.
ReplyDeletemy book also has someone that is took in it and the person that knows where she is wont say unless they sell the woods to the guy
DeleteI'm reading Elon Musk and the conflict in my book is defiantly Person vs. Person. Elon has many conflicts with people throughout his business life. Every business he starts there's always someone that wants to either shut him down, take over, or even steal his ideas. Elon struggles with conflict. When there's conflict between people, he gets mad and screws up. When there's conflict between him and his business, he spends money on it to improve it. The conflict is the most important thing in this book because if one business goes bad or isn't making a difference, he moves on and tries another.
ReplyDeletesounds intteresting
DeleteSounds like a very interesting book is there other ways he resolves his conflicts besides throwing money at it?
Deletesounds like you can learn a lot about the business world with this book
DeleteI'm reading The Mist by Stephen King and the conflict is mainly person vs. person. David and his son Billy are having trouble staying calm while being trapped in a grocery store because of the fighting going on between the different shoppers. Some are arguing about ways to escape the store and get help for everyone else, but others are just being arrogant and acting like they can survive outside of the store without any help. David keeps trying to find solutions and the arrogant people are trying to use more brutal ways of escaping. I hope that they can find a way to survive by the end of the book.
ReplyDeletesounds interesting
Deletelooks boring, why in a grocery store
Deletewhat aisle would you live in if you got trapped in a grocery store
Deletethe primary conflict in my story is that yanek doesnt want to leave her uncle but Moshe wants him to and he doesnt know what he will do without him.
ReplyDeletewhy dont she want to leave? and ose she end up leaving her uncle?
Deletethe main conflict in my book is 2 pirate crews and its over a ancient power called the shroudbreaker. these 2 crews have thier own opinion over who should control the seas and they are fighting to death for it
ReplyDeletethis book seems interesting, why do the 2 crews want to control the sea?;
Deletemany and justice were driving listening to music loudly in there car when a guy in a SUBERBAN was trying to get them to turn it down but they didn't because they were made about something ells then the guy fires his gun and kills many and injeras justice come to find out the guy that shot his gun was a police officer.
ReplyDeleteWow this book sounds interesting but it also kind of sounds like there is a lot going on in it.
DeleteSounds like a intense book what where they made about that they hade there music so loud for?
DeleteI'm reading the book Two Minute Drill and the conflict in my book is between the main character Scott and his teammate Jimmy the coach's son and his teammates because he accidentally tripped Jimmy during a practice play causing him to get hurt. and then the rest of the team was mad at him since Jimmy is one of the best players. Scott didn't handle it right because he thought about quitting the team. it adds to the story because he had an agreement with Chris if he helped him pass his classes Chris had to help him get better and football. it was resolved by him staying on the team and helped Chris pass
ReplyDeletein my book Night the main confict is the main carector gets taken away from his home and sent to ashwits there he is split up from his famly so its just him and his dad throgh out the book he is fighting to stay alive while at the same time fighting to keep him and his dad together. my carecter has ben handling him self great he doesnt freek out he has not lost faith, he just kinda just keeps his head on him. the conflict is the story so there is no way to say how it helps it. and it has not been resolved yet.
ReplyDeletedid him and his dad stay together the whole time or did they split up and what did he do about it
Deletei can agree with you that is the main plot but what kind of conflict is it person vs person or is it culture/ religion vs society. but how you explained it makes it sound like person vs society because your talking about Elie and his dad vs the germans.
Deletei am reading the things they carried by Tim Obrien and the conflict i chose is person vs self with the character Norman Bowker, when he got back from Vietnam he had so much to say to everyone, he kept cruising around his hometown driving past peoples houses imagining his conversations with them but never stopping to follow through. He felt so out of place until he hung himself 3 years after returning home from the war.
ReplyDeleteThe main conflict in the book night is person vs person, jews against the nazis, Elie and his dad are the main characters dealing with the conflict, they are trying to survive all of these new concentration camps, and all the torture. elie is handling it not to well, all he has to do is keep pushing, his dad is doing even worse though beings hes older and more weak, i dont think his dad will make it much longer
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that it is person vs. person in that sense because people are fighting against other people to keep living. the Jews have to fight against the Nazis just to have a slim chance of surviving.
Deletemy book is kinda the same except instead of jews vs nazis its allies vs nazis and spys
DeleteMine is kinda the same it’s just dealing with how she can’t participate like the others
DeleteThe main conflict right now in my book Confess by Colleen Hoover is Auburn is trying to rebuild her life after a devastating loss. in the beginning of the book she lost her boyfriend at the age 13 to cancer. This was a huge loss for her and she had a rough time trying to go back to a normal life. This conflict sticks with her the rest of the book and is something she is always thinking about. She has found a new guy she likes but struggles to share her past and emotions with him because of the loss.
ReplyDeleteyour book connects to my book because louis family is woryd he is not going to come home after his plain crashed.
Deletei am reading unbroken the main conflicted in my book is loui is stranded at sea after his plain b24 bomber went down him and his crew are stranded at sea and the Japanese shot at them and almost sunk the rafted.
ReplyDeletethat sounds interesting. do you know if he ever makes it bake to safety?
Deletein the book Night i believe the main conflict is person vs society. i think this because Elie has to face the battle of religious discrimination. all because he is a jew Elie has to battle the adversity and discrimination by being in a concentration camp. i could even put this conflict as religion vs sociaty because it wasn't just Elie who was in the conflict it was every jew. They were killed and tortured just because of what they believed in was different than what others did.
ReplyDeleteI also agree that it is person vs society because of the way the Germans treat them.
DeleteI am reading the book Helmet For My Pillow and in my book the conflict is world war 2 and the Americans are at war with the Japs. In the book the main character handles the conflict with shooting the Japs. This conflict is just a small part in world war 2 and the conflict goes on for a very long time.
ReplyDeletemy book is kinda the same mines also about ww2 and germany vs the allies
DeleteIn my book Lost in the Antarctic, the crew members faces challenges throughout their journey home. It is person vs nature. They have to faces storm's, zero degree weather and find ways to survive on what they have on the ship. The main conflict is survival for the men on the ship.
ReplyDeletethis book sounds interesting. what are some of the things that they have to survive? do you know if they make it to saftey?
DeleteThe main conflict in my book Project 1065 is person vs person cause its Micheal trying to help the allies defeat Germany ny spying aand gaining secrects of new bomb factorys and concetration camps locations
ReplyDeletemy book is kind of the same Loui is fighting Japan
Deletemy book is also set in ww2 but it tells what life is like inside the camps.
Deletethe book i am reading is night by Elie Wiesel is person vs society. Elie is Jewish and so is her family so they feel betrayed by the Germans who they once called friends and are now ratting them out and enslaving them. When they are in the camps the Germans obviously disrespect and kill them but that is what they are being told to do and that's what they believe in because it is in there society.
ReplyDeletei am also reading this book right now i have finished the book and it leaves me with an amazing story and think you will enjoy the ending
DeleteI am reading not a drop left to drink and the main conflict is the all major water sources are filled with a disease. Leaving the only ponds, streams ext. left, only the small sources of water were safe to drink and even then needed to be filtered. The main characters father is part of different group and has a dam built so he can manipulate the water others get. This leaves a lot of other people in the area dying and sick. The main conflict adds a lot to the story since it has made a lot of people fight one another.
ReplyDeleteim reading look out of the little guy. in that book scott lang's main conflicts are about him trying to be in his daughter's life as he is an ex-convict, then a superhero, then an illegal superhero, and then a convict all over again. the other main conflict he has to deal with is getting sent 5 years into the future with half of all people having disappeared.
ReplyDeleteThe book I'm read is The Silent Patient. And the primary conflict in my book is this girl her name is Alicia she killed her husband and completely stopped talking. After the murder she was sent to a physic word. This character handles herself by not talking or having any emotion for anything. The conflict can be resolved by and giving Alicia a different medication.
ReplyDeletei can connect to this with my bookk having many deaths and murders in it as well
DeleteDo you think she will act different with a different medicine?
DeleteThe main type of conflict in my book is person vs. society. The author, Charlie Kirk, is arguing that college is a scam. It is over priced, lacks actual education, and the value of a college degree has greatly decreased. He writes this book to show all the statistics that proves his argument that college is a scam. He points out how tuition has increased far past the rate of inflation. He even started an organization called Turning Point USA to help show young students that there is more than one path after high school.
ReplyDeletein my book Night Elie's father was killed at the new concentration camp the two of them were sent to this left Elie in shock in a state of mind that ruined him he started to lose his faith in god and couldn't remember who he was before his life was takin from him he struggles of losing his father and knowing that other jews have been relived of the suffering but he hasnt yet
ReplyDeleteIn my book Out of my Mind the conflict was person vs person because Claire is being mean to melody because she wants to join the quiz team.
ReplyDelete
